Facial Cosmetic Surgery

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, aims to reshape the eyelids. With age, the skin becomes lax, and there may be drooping or hooding of the upper lids, and bags on the lower lids. Eyelid surgery may be functional, cosmetic, or both. It usually involves removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, and the procedure may reinforce surrounding muscles and tendons.

Surgery can change the shape of the face or tighten the skin.

In rhinoplasty, also known as a “nose job,” the surgeon reshapes the patient’s nose to improve the appearance and often breathing, too. It may involve reshaping the tip and reducing the bony hump at the upper aspect of the nose.

It can be performed with small incisions that are well hidden, often inside the nostrils. Surgeons do not recommend rhinoplasty until the patient is at least 15 years old, to allow for full growth of the cartilage and Rhinoplasty is surgery to repair or reshape the nose.

Rhinoplasty can be performed under local or general anaesthesia, depending on the exact procedure and the patient’s preference. The procedure usually takes 1 to 2 hours. It may take longer.

With local anaesthesia, the nose and the area around it is numbed. You will probably be lightly sedated, but awake during the surgery (relaxed and not feeling pain). General anaesthesia allows you to sleep through the operation.

The surgery is usually done through a cut (incision) made inside the nostrils. In some cases, the cut is made from outside, around the base of the nose. This type of cut is used to perform work on the tip of the nose or if you need a cartilage graft.

A splint (metal or plastic) may be placed on the outside of the nose. This helps maintain the new shape of the bone when the surgery is finished. Soft plastic splints or nasal packs also may be placed in the nostrils. This helps keep the dividing wall between the air passages (septum) stable.

Why the Procedure is Performed?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most common plastic surgery procedures. It can be used to:

  • Reduce or increase the size of the nose

  • Change the shape of the tip or the nasal bridge

  • Narrow the opening of the nostrils

  • Change the angle between the nose and the upper lip

  • Correct a birth defect or injury

  • Help relieve some breathing problems

Nose surgery is considered elective when it is done for cosmetic reasons. In these cases, the purpose is to change the shape of the nose to one that the patient finds more desirable. Many surgeons prefer to perform cosmetic nose surgery after the nasal bone has finished growing. This is around age 14 or 15 for girls and a bit later for boys.

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, treats prominent or misshapen ears by surgically “pinning” the ear closer to the head with sutures, reshaping the cartilage, or both.

One or both ears may be treated. It is most commonly performed in children after of 5 or 6 years as the ears have essentially reached adult size by that age.

Rhytidectomy, also known as a facelift, aims to surgically remove wrinkles and tighten facial skin in order to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Face Lift Neck Lift Surgeries –aims to surgically remove wrinkles and tighten facial skin in order to achieve a more youthful appearance.  Facial skin sags during the ages of 50s, due to the skin’s loss of elasticity, lessening of fat tissue with ageing, and gravity. Classic face-lift operation is the firming of the face and neck skin Typically, the incision is placed in front of and behind the ears, extending into the hairline in the temple area. The skin is lifted off the deeper facial tissue, redraped more tightly, and the excess skin is removed. The incisions are then closed with sutures. Face-lift operation is always performed together with neck lift. In the case when sagging around the jowl and separation of muscles on the middle of the neck are apparent, these muscles are strengthened by making a small incision on the part below the chin. This operation is especially successful with people who have clearly visible sagging around the neck and the chin and thin skins in which sagging and wrinkling on the skin are apparent instead of deep tissues. The classic face-lift operation does not fix sagging and wrinkles around the eyes, the mouth, and the middle of the face.

For a more superior and proportionate appearance, mid-face lifting, eyelid operations, Botox, and dermabrasion can be performed within the same session

Recovery takes around 6 months

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery may be done at the same time as a facelift or on its own.  Due to ageing, gravity, and genetic factors, upper and lower eyelids may go through some alterations that make people look older, sleepier, and more tired. Though, looks always play an important role in every aspect of life. Nobody wants to look tired and sleepy to other people whoever they might be. These alterations on eyelids are bags caused by excess muscles and skins, and herniation of fat tissues. Sometimes these alterations emerge altogether, while sometimes there are only bags and excess skins. Sometimes, excess skins accumulate into a mass that affects vision scope. Depending on the patient’s condition, only upper lids, only lower lids, or both upper and lower lids can be operated on.

The operation takes about 1-1.5 hours. It is possible to return home within the same day. The type of anaesthesia might be local, sedation, and general. The upper lid incision is made on the natural fold here. Therefore, the mark that remains after the surgery is minimal. Classic lower lid incision is made right under eyelashes. This incision can also be done inside the eyelid if the patient is appropriate (Transconjunctival). Bruises emerging after the surgery disappear in the week after the surgery. Stitches are removed on the 4th or 5th day. Swellings disappear within a month. The patient can have more youthful and robust looks after the surgery.

Chin augmentation aims to make the chin more prominent and provide a better balance of facial features. It may be done at the same time as rhinoplasty, depending on the measurements taken before surgery. It can be performed with either a prosthetic implant or through manipulation of the chin bone.
